Background:The District is in its third year of the Elementary School Counseling Grant. The overall goal of the grant project is to expand counseling programs, resulting in improved social, emotional, behavioral, and cognitive functioning among students receiving services and a reduction in aggressive and disruptive behaviors, as evidenced by fewer disciplinary referrals.

Plan
Continue the grant's goal of establishing mental health professionals at Adams Elementary School, Cleveland Elementary School, Franklin Elementary School and McKinley Elementary School. Each school team will consist of the school psychologist, two school-based mental health counselors and a part-time social worker. The mental health counselors and social workers will be provided through agreements with Family Service Agency and the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.
Recommendation:The Board of Education approves the agreements between Family Service Agency and the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse to implement the District's Elementary School Counseling Grant for the 2013-14 school year.
