| Background: | Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Education Code 49073 permit the release of designated directory information without written consent. In addition, FERPA requires parents and guardians be given notice if the district has included the use of a student photograph or grade level as designated directory information. In order for the district to be in compliance with the release of a student’s photograph and/or grade level the two categories are being added to the list of directory information. |
| Recommendation: | The Board of Education is asked to review the revisions to Administrative Regulation 5125.1 "Release of Directory Information" and provide feedback to staff for second reading and approval. |
