| Background: | The California Department of Education provides a Pre-Kindergarten and Family Literacy Program Support Contact to promote the interactive literacy activities for children and families enrolled in this program. The Child Development Program has 2 full day classrooms at Harding and Franklin.
The funds will be used to support the Pre-Kindergarten and Family Literacy Support Programs at Harding and Franklin Schools according to the Funding Terms and Conditions. Based on enrollment, Franklin Pre-K will receive $3,000 and Harding will receive $2,000 to provide family literacy activities and services, staff development opportunities and additional classroom materials. |
| Recommendation: | That the Board of Education adopt Resolution No. 2013/2014-02 authorizing entering into Contract No. CPKS-3093, Pre-Kindergarten and Family Literacy Support Program, between the Santa Barbara Unified School Districts’ Child Development Program and the California Department of Education for the 2013/14 school year. |
