| Item Title: | Discussion of Smarter Balanced Field Test | | Agenda Title: | Discussion of Smarter Balanced Field Test | | Background: | As California transitions to the new, exciting common core state standards, there will be changes this year in the student testing. We will begin shifting from the previous Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) tests to the new Smarter Balanced Assessments. The new Smarter Balanced Assessments will be taken on computers and aligned with the Common Core curriculum.
The Smarter Balanced field test will take place April 7 - May 16, 2014 for Santa Barbara Unified School District. Students in grades 3-8 and grade 11 will be assessed with a computer in English language arts and/or math. The purpose of the spring 2014 Smarter Balanced field test is to evaluate the performance of test items and the test delivery system.
