| Background: | The six new courses are being requested for approval that fulfill the state adopted Common Core State Standards in math. The rationale for each course are as follows:
- CCSS Math 7 - This is a new course that addresses the state adopted California Common Core Math 7 Standards.
- CCSS Math 7 Plus Enrichment- This is a new course that addresses the Common Core Math 7 standards and is intended for students who demonstrate a need for mathematical experiences and topics beyond CCSS Math 7. It is designed to address all of the CCSS Math 7 content and math practices while providing students additional enrichment opportunities to increase students' depth of understanding by developing expertise in the modeling process and applying mathematics to novel and complex contexts.
- CCSS Math 8 - This is a new course that addresses the state adopted California Common Core Math 8 Standards.
- CCSS Math 8 Plus Enrichment- This is a new course that addresses the Common Core Math 8 standards and is intended for students who demonstrate a need for mathematical experiences and topics beyond CCSS Math 8. - CCSS Integrated Math I - Integrated Mathematics I is the first of three courses that addresses the state adopted California Common Core Standards in high school.
- CCSS Integrated Math I Plus Enrichment- Integrated Mathematics I is the first of three courses that addresses the state adopted California Common Core Standards in high school. It is intended for students who demonstrate a need for mathematical experiences and topics beyond CCSS Integrated Mathematics I. It is designed to address all of the CCSS Integrated Mathematics I content and math practices while providing students additional enrichment opportunities to increase students' depth of understanding by developing expertise in the modeling process and applying mathematics to novel and complex contexts.
Students who are identified as needing extra support will be clustered in specific sections and assigned extended time on the master schedule to pre-teach and re-teach concepts and skills in order to accelerate their learning and provide support so that they are successful on the guaranteed grade level curriculum. |
