Background:
The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) Program was authorized under the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act and amended by the passage of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001. State and local accountability for student academic achievement was expanded and the importance of adopting scientifically-based research practices was emphasized.

Plan
If funds in the amount of $351,000 are received, the contract funds would primarily be used for classified salaries for each program. The remainder of the contract would pay for contract services, instructional materials, meal plan, professional development, business operations, and other supplies.
Recommendation:

That the Board of Education approves the submission of Cohort 8/2013-2014 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st Century CCLC) grant application.
