In August of this school year, the staff of Santa Barbara Junior High School began implementation of the Restorative Approach to student discipline. Since then, staff have been applying strategies for student discipline to maximize the students' time in school and using alternatives to suspension when appropriate.
The attachment contains a three-year comparison of year-to-date data (as of 1/25/13) related to documented incidents at Santa Barbara Junior High School resulting in student contact with school staff. The specific data includes the number of incidents in general, as well as, those resulting in suspension or expulsion.
