Pending Approval of the Priority List for Current Measure Q 2010 Bond Fund Projects, Approval of the Foundation for Santa Barbara High School Fundraising Plan for Remaining Amount Due, the Large Score Board Sponsorship, the Small Scoreboard Sponsorship, and Resolution 2012/2013-38

As part of the proposed Measure Q 2010 projects for Santa Barbara High School, upgrades to the gymnasium are anticipated. New lighting, ceiling tiles, gym floor and interior painting were part of the scope of the project. On January 10, 2012 the Board approved the fundraising application for upgrades to the J. R. Richards Gymnasium at SBHS.

 

A schedule of values for the project, furnished by the contractor, has been evaluated by the District and the Foundation and it is agreed that 30% of the project is for items that would not be included without outside fundraising. The original amount of fundraising was anticipated at $199,100 and the project costs are higher than the pre design estimate. A letter from the Foundation is attached outlining the amounts and the proposed plan. Also attached is a list of Donors for the project.

 

The Foundation has pledges for the sponsorship of the two new scoreboards that they are funding, in the amount of $25,000 each. The sponsor for the large scoreboard is Montecito Bank and Trust and the sponsor for the smaller scoreboard is the Stoll Law Firm. Letters from the Foundation and examples of the area on the score boards for the sponsor names are attached.

 

My office is recommending an award to Frank Schipper Construction Company as they have accomplished previous work at this and other district sites and the district is pleased with the projects.
