| Background: | Since his retirement as a district teacher, Bill Oliphant has continued coaching youth baseball and will be retiring from this activity after 40 years. The baseball community at Santa Barbara High School would like to honor “Coach O” by naming the Santa Barbara Junior High baseball field after him. This field is used by the Santa Barbara High School baseball program. Principals John Becchio and Lito Garcia support this request. The field is known as Oliphant Meadows to players and coaches and a sign will be placed on the backstop. |
