Background:

The baseball backstop at San Marcos High School does not prevent foul balls from landing in the stadium seating area and the sand volleyball courts.  This project will replace the baseball field backstop and as part of anticipated additional requirements of the Division of the State Architect, accessible parking, seating, paths of travel and restroom upgrades will need to be addressed.  Staff is recommending that this project be funded from the first sale of Measure I 2016 bond funds.  Approval of the contract at this time will allow for construction to take place during the summer of 2018.  

PMSM is on the approved architects list and is familiar with the site as they were involved in the site (donation) funded baseball scoreboard replacement project. The total project budget is $540,381 with a construction budget of $390,000, a construction contingency of $37,500 and non-construction soft costs of $112,881.
