Agenda Title:Approval of “Research Agreement” between Santa Barbara Unified School District and Mainstay Care & Consultation, LLC for the evaluation of the "Reading Intervention for Elementary Students with Dyslexia" Pilot Project (Matsuoka)
Background:This research project will provide evaluation consultation and services for the Santa Barbara Unified School District’s (SBUnified) implementation of a reading intervention program for students with dyslexia across five elementary schools. Teachers in SBUnified will provide the intervention for students at Harding University Partnership School, Monroe Elementary School, McKinley Elementary School, Santa Barbara Junior High School, and Santa Barbara High School during the 2018-2019 academic year. The evaluation will consist of the following activities: 1) coordination with SBUnified and participating stakeholders and school personnel, 2) fidelity assessment, 3) outcome assessment, 4) qualitative assessment, 5) final report preparation, and 6) presentation of results. This agreement provides for the evaluation of this service with the goal of demonstrating the efficacy of the program and providing feedback for ongoing program improvement. Mainstay Care & Consultation, LLC will collaborate with SBUnified to gather data that will inform the ongoing refinement of the program and implementation processes and provide evidence of the program outcomes.
Recommendation:That the Board of Education approve the Research Agreement with Mainstay Care & Consultation, LLC
