Be Guided Language Acquisition Design (GLAD) is a professional development organization in the area of language acquisition and literacy employing Project GLAD model and strategies for teaching English Learners (EL). The Santa Barbara Unified School District’s (SBUSD) English Learner and Parent Engagement Services Department is interested in once again contracting with Be GLAD for their services during the professional development (PD) week in June followed with additional PD during the school year.
Training in Be GLAD model and strategies begin with a two-day workshop on the GLAD model, research and strategies. This is then followed with four days of classroom demonstrations taught by trainers in the GLAD strategies and techniques with SBUSD students. The afternoons focus on debriefing the teaching observation and facilitated collaboration among teachers on the implementation of key learning in their instructional practice.
This memorandum of understanding (MOU) supports the SBUSD’s fifth year of implementation of the Be GLAD Professional Learning Plan.
