Background: | Records indicate that thirty-nine Santa Barbara Unified students were enrolled in the California National Guard Grizzly Youth Academy Charter School for the 2018-19 school year. The Grizzly Challenge Charter School is a WASC accredited school authorized by the San Luis Obispo County Office of Education (SLOCOE). Per Education Code Section (E.C.) 47632 and 47635 2018/19 P2 Certified in lieu Property Tax for 17.05 ADA generated on SBUSD’s students attending Grizzly Challenge Charter School is $132,243.00. Please note: per E.C 47663 a community-funded (formerly basic aid) school district is eligible to be reimbursed for some of the funding being transferred to a charter school. SBUSD is entitled to 70% of the LCFF base grant that would have been apportioned to the district if we were not community-funded. |
Recommendation: | Staff recommends the Board approve the Direct-Pay request to San Luis Obispo County Office of Education (SLOCOE). |
