The project list for bond Measure J contains a project to rehabilitate the covered walkways, and other roofing at Franklin Elementary School. Our recent roofing assessment, and conversations with the architect, indicate that all other roofing repair at Franklin has been on a past bond project, or by deferred maintenance. This is good news, because the covered walkways at Franklin have extensive damage due to dry rot and termite infestation. Since the other roofing on campus is in good shape, we will be able to combine the budgets for both projects to perform a superior rehabilitation on the covered walkways that will completely address any issues discovered during construction, and provide a quality outcome that will last for many years.
The current budget for the covered walkways is $907,345. The budget for other roofing at Franklin is $911,936. If approved, the new budget for the project will be $1,819,280.
This agenda item is asking the Board to approve an Agreement for Architectural Services with Robert Robles Architecture, Inc. to begin the design process, and to approve the reallocation of funds from the other roofing budget for Franklin to the covered walkway rehabilitation project.
