In June, the board received a report regarding the adoption process of FOSS Science. The process is outlined below and the board report will provide an update on the Display of Instructional Materials for Stakeholder Feedback.
Process for Adoption
The original plan for adoption of FOSS Science in grades K-5 was slated to begin March 2020 and provide additional opportunities for engagement of teachers and stakeholders. However, the severe disruption brought upon by school closures due to COVID-19, rendered those original plans obsolete. In May, there was extensive re-engagement with the Elementary Instructional Council. Once again, there was strong support for moving forward with the adoption process. Below are some of the major points in the timeline toward a board adoption in August 2020.
