Background:

Santa Barbara Unified held the first day of school on Tuesday, August 18. This report includes highlights and information from the first week of school, as well as plans for the coming weeks.

Subsequent reports will shift to updating the board on the status of schools under distance learning conditions, planning for physical return of students to school when health and safety guidelines permit, and other matters related to school operations and academic outcomes as requested by the school board.
