ERWC-ELD is a standards-based, grade-level, English language arts-English language development (ELA-ELD) curriculum designed specifically for Emergent Multilingual Learners, thus satisfying both of the basic requirements set forth by Federal Program Monitoring. The ERWC-ELD instructional materials were developed, piloted, and studied through a competitive United States Department of Education, Office of English Language Acquisition (OELA) National Professional Development (NPD) grant.
A Curriculum Overview, Course Learning Goals, Key Features, and Course Sequences have been provided in the accompanying report.
The original plan for piloting of ERWC 3.0 in grades 7-12 was slated to begin March 2020 and provide additional opportunities for engagement of teachers and stakeholders. However, the severe disruption brought upon by school closures due to COVID-19, rendered those original plans obsolete. In May, there was extensive re-engagement with the Secondary ELD Cadre of teachers to identify a new course of action.
